Fire Protection Services

Robeson Township is fortunate to have two separate and distinct volunteer fire companies that bravely serve the residents of the Township. They are Friendship Fire Company No. 1 of Geigertown and Gibraltar Fire Company.

The Friendship Fire Company is led by Chief Scott Gullo and provides 24/7 Fire, Rescue and EMS services to the citizens of Robeson Township as well as mutual aid response to surrounding communities.

Historically, in 1949, Clyde Kochel of the Fire Company #1 of Morgantown approached George Flemming of Geigertown concerning starting a fire company in Geigertown due to the number of calls that the town was having. The community placed the fire company idea to a vote. Many people votedagainst the Fire Company, but in was voted in by "one" vote.

Today The Fire Company, which is situated right in the center of Geigertown, has seven apparatus, and responds to an average of 450 calls per year. Currently membership in the Fire Company includes 7 Officers and 28 Firefighters as well as 87 Support members.

The Gibraltar Fire Company is led by Chief Jeff Kupp and is located at 3351 Main Street in Gibraltar, Birdsboro.

Known as Fire Station #23, the company has nine pump/tank apparatus. The Gibraltar Fire Company maintains 50 volunteer members which provide fire protection and emergency response services in the Birdsboro community.

The Fire Department's mission is to prevent the loss of life and property. In addition to responding to fires, The Gibraltar Fire Company also responds to medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, rescue calls and incidents involving hazardous materials.
