STORMWATER MANAGEMENT (MS4)
The federal Clean Water Act prohibits the discharge of pollutants into waterways without appropriate permits and seeks to diminish the overall discharge of pollutants. Pennsylvania’s legislation to comply with these requirements is Act 167 or the PA Stormwater Management Act, which created the MS4 Program. MS4 stands for Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System and is the shorthand for the Township’s program to control the runoff of pollutants.
